Rented houses are temporary homes. There is no assurance of permanently living in one house. For families that treasure keeping memories, this may be impossible as they will need to be moving from one house to another.
The owner may also decide to change the functionality of the building. He may decide to either sell it or change it from residential to a commercial use. As a result, tenants are left with no choice but to look for an alternative shelter. The above reasons causes instability which negatively affects individuals and families.
Paying rent every month does not contribute to any savings or any long term investment. It is just but an expense. The rent simply pays for your shelter. If you are a home owner, every little improvements you make, each house payment made works to your own benefit since tenants do not have shares in the houses they live in. A tenant cannot sell the hose. Home owners enjoy this privilege by waiting until the value of their property appreciates then sells it at a higher price hence making profit.
Rentals have rules and regulations that tenants are expected to adhere to. Many landlords will not permit for any changes in the decorations or any renovations to be done in their units. The desire to have different rooms painted in a specific way, changing roof tiles or counter tops is not met. It is at times difficult living by these rules making it disadvantageous to rent a house.
The landlord gets to determine your living environment. The kind of people you share the compound and other amenities with are not within your control. In a shared apartment for example, maintaining hygiene becomes a major problem since different people live differently. This majorly leads to conflict among neighbors.
Due to our busy schedules, we prefer to have things done as per our plan. House repairs for example will require that you be present when they are done so that you monitor the process and ensure that they are done accordingly. In most cases, tenants are not allow to do any repairs or renovations. They should report damages so that the owner takes care of them. It may take long to get the repairs done. The time selected for the services will depend on the landlord and not the person living in it.
Homeowners usually have representatives who handle issues dealing with clients. Negotiations between the landlord and the tenant are mainly done through these agents. Misunderstandings mar arise. Apart from these, communication is not efficient since there are three parties involved.
