The general public through the media and other governmental agencies have pleaded with the church to accept changes in society to no avail. This inflexible attitude has been associated to the massive reduction in the number of Catholics in the world. The churches reputation is also dwindling with the scandals that it is facing every day.
Even though the church keeps on insisting that the act of celibacy was begun by Christ, several scholars have come forward with substantiated facts to prove that Christ did not do such a thing. This is a challenge the church is constantly battling and is yet to win. Surveys conducted in many catholic churches showed that members had no problem with priests having families and that this was the only way, cases of homosexuality could be eliminated.
Catholics in the developed world are the ones who have become very vocal in criticizing the doctrines of the global church. They have no problem with the church ordaining female priests to supplement the dwindling numbers of their male counterparts. Females too have attended the bible schools to hone their skills in message delivery hence should be given the opportunity to showcase their ability.
Several issues have split the once solid global church in the middle. The changing times have seen some of the believers embracing ideas that long ago were considered unholy and any member who engaged in them was considered condemned. Some of them are discussed in detail below.
Celibacy has often hit the headlines as the contributing factor the abnormal act of pedophilia something that is not accepted at all by society yet they engage in it when no one is watching. Marriage is a stage in life that most people have to go through and it usually comes with stress and complications. Faithful go to church every Sunday seeking guidance on these topics hence a priest is not conversant with intricacies involved.
There are some policies the church has put in place that many believe should be erased and forgotten. Unfortunately, these cries have been paid no attention by the officials and the pope himself. Scandals continue to rock the church from all corners but nothing has been done to avoid them.
Gender equality has been fought for by many individuals who believe women too deserve to occupy the same positions as men. Therefore, the world fails to understand why the mouthpiece of the Lord is still taking its time in accepting ordaining women into priesthood when other churches are already accepting them.
