Let your pastor know that you are not feeling well, so that they can pray for you. If your Pastor is close by, you can encourage him to visit you at home or in the hospital, so that they can lay hands on you while praying. This is an act of faith that is recommended in the Bible. Don't assume that your Pastor knows that you are sick, but take the initiative to inform him. The Pastor may come alone or with other elders from the church to pray for you.
Your bible study group members will pray for you if you request them to. Apart from that, they will provide you with the psycho-social support that you need to get through your illness. They may pray for you during their meetings or they may pray for you individually. Just make sure to tell them that you need prayers since you are sick. In addition, the church congregation will also pray for you if you tell them to.
Ask family members, friends and colleagues you are close to to pray for you. Most of them will be glad to do so. The best time to ask them is when they stop by your home or by the hospital to see you. If they are unable to visit you for whatever reason, call them or text them and inform them of your need.
It is important that you also pray for yourself. This will assure you that even if no one else is praying for you, at least you are praying for yourself. Reading the Bible and some Christian books on prayer will give you ideas on how you should pray.
There are several websites, TV and radio shows that allow listeners to send in prayer requests. Take advantage of these opportunities to request for someone to pray for you. Your best bet of finding such shows is to tune in to Christian shows.
Getting medical help is an important aspect of intercession. This is because God uses various ways to heal people. Seeing your doctor will increase your chances of getting well, as the treatment you get will help you to recover faster.
Continuously keep praying even when you don't see results yet. One of the things that will give you strength to press on is to listen to positive testimonials of other people who suffered from worse conditions and they eventually recovered. Have faith that God will heal you.
