A disturbed younger self can cause a lot of issues for the older version of yourself. Not dealing with issues from your past could lead to them manifesting in different ways. Some People suppress the memories they have from that young age. This can be for a number if reasons, buts it s mostly about self-preservation. This can work for a while but could resurface at a later stage.
Most adults grow up thinking they deserved what happened to them. They are conditioned to believe that what happened to them was a product of their behavior. Their parents never take responsibility for the things they did and so without help or healthy life skills, they end up becoming their parents. A parent might say to themselves "at least I dont hit my child", but there are other ways.
You will need validation. Not from others but from yourself. Understand that the pain you went through or the harm you endured was not okay, it should not be justified or rationalized. It s okay to tell yourself that it was wrong, hurtful and that you deserve better. This is how you come through for your younger self. This is when the healing will commence.
As a child, your influences don t just end at your parents. There is a number of people.coming into your life and you are constantly collecting data. Your extended family also has a lot of influence on how you see the world. Caregivers also have a huge effect on the development of your personality. This will affect your social relationships from a young age. It will determine how you treat others.
The parent is the Guru and the caregiver. They usher life into the world and have the responsibility of showering it with unconditional love and respect. Some parents might think what does respect have to do with raising a baby, but all life must be respected. How you speak to your kid will also determine their relationship with other adults. Should they be abused by someone else they need to feel safe enough to tell you.
After going through everything again, which you must you will begin to feel the load come off your shoulders. Don t be afraid to let that child within you out. They need to come out in order to deal with what happened to them. You can even speak to someone you trust about the particular experiences. This can be a friend or family member, but you can also speak to a therapist if you want professional advice.
Apologize to yourself. Take out the old album and look at your old pictures. Remind yourself of the adorable lovely baby you were. Meditation is also a technique that is recommended. Remember to be kind to yourself.
